We got rained out of our original date for this shoot and when it rained the entire week before our rescheduled date, I began to get really nervous! I had been so excited about this engagement shoot and I did NOT want to have to reschedule it again. Needless to say I was pretty relieved when not only was it sunny, but it was sunny and WARM. We could not have had better weather for this Georgetown engagement shoot!
It was such a fun afternoon exploring Georgetown with Courtney and JJ. Aside from making the mistake of wearing heels (seriously, when will I learn? Comfort over cute when you’re shooting people!) it was a perfect afternoon! We began our shoot at a small park just north of the city that I found online after some googling and it had a cherry blossom tree in bloom! Not way bad way to start a shoot! From there, we walked all the way down to the water front taking pictures along the way. JJ knew of the perfect spot to take our final pictures at sunset with the city in the background. I always love when my clients know of secret location!
I was actually sort of amazed at how much they knew about the city. Given the fact that they both just moved here not too long ago, they were showing me around, telling me about the history of different places, and showing me back ways and secret spots. Meanwhile, I’ve lived here now for about 6 years and still had to use my GPS to get to Georgetown. I take that to mean they will have an awesome marriage and wherever they go or whatever they do together, they will dive right in.
These two are also going to have the best wedding ever. As we walked around talking, I started asking about their wedding plans and as they began to tell me about it, I got more and more excited. Every little detail from their wedding is something I’ve had on my “I hope I get to shoot this one day” bucket list! I won’t give the details away but I will say check back in September and see for yourself how amazing it is.
Courtney and JJ, I had so much fun exploring Georgetown with you and now I’m even more excited to explore DC with you on your wedding day! Enjoy my favorites from your shoot.
