Today’s blog post is a special one! This Bon Air Park engagement shoot is one of my absolute favorites. I have been so excited about this for a LONG time! Mia and I have been friends for years and I remember when TJ came into the picture. Back when I went to Mason, I led Young Life at a local high school with Mia. I lived on campus so Mia would always pick me up to hang out, we would have sleepovers, grab dinner, go to YL events, and then she would bring me back to campus! She was basically my personal driver (just kidding Mia)! My sophomore year she was driving me back to campus and we were talking about this new guy TJ who had just moved up here. She thought he was SO cute and funny and had the biggest crush on him. After a few years of being friends, they started dating and now they are getting MARRIED this October and I get to shoot it! Not only that, but they are going on the greatest honeymoon ever, Excellence (seriously brides, you will never regret this decision).
Our first date for this shoot got rained out so we had to reschedule. At first, we were bummed, but now I am SO glad because if our original March date had panned out, it would have been cold and no flowers would have been blooming! Mia, TJ and I were watching the weather like hawks all week. It looked like we could get rained out again, but on the day of the shoot we missed the rain by a hair! I knew Mia wanted flowers in her spring pictures (and so did I, if you can’t tell from all of my shoots blooms are sort of my love language). We landed on Bon Air Park because there is supposedly a little rose garden! When I got there, none of the roses were blooming yet so I did a little exploring. I stumbled upon the most magical hillside ever! Seriously the entire hill was covered in all different types of flowers and it was better than I was even planning.
When Mia and TJ got out of the car my jaw dropped! They looked amazing! TJ, your future wife is a babe. Mia got her hair and makeup done and picked out a special dress just for the occasion and TJ was equally dapper (although he didn’t get his hair or makeup done). I always love when couples go that extra step. Not only does dressing up make your pictures look that much more stunning, but it also means so much to me as a photographer! I put a lot of time and effort into planning, shooting and editing, it let’s me know how much you value your pictures.
This was easily one of my favorite shoots. Not just because of how perfect the pictures were, but because I got to spend some quality time with two of my favorite people! Mia and TJ just adore one another. You can see it in their eyes every time they look at each other. Even when they are disagreeing about sports teams they are smiling and laughing (and sports are something they both take VERY seriously)! TJ cherishes Mia so much already. He escorts her when they walk, helps her step over things, calms her down when she starts to stress, and constantly tells her how beautiful she is. Mia is head over heals for TJ! She is always telling me just how excited she is to have him be her husband and how much she loves him. I love seeing my sweet friend so happy!
Mia and TJ, I love you both dearly and am so excited to play a small role in this special time of your life. I can’t wait for you two to be married and we can go on all the married double dates! You guys bring so much joy to everyone around you and I know your wedding will be the biggest celebration! Thanks for climbing through the woods to find the prettiest flowers with me. Here are my faves from your shoot!
