Old Town Alexandria Engagement | Sarah & Jack

June 30, 2017

I can’t believe I’m writing this blog post right now! I have known Sarah since she was in like 3rd grade. It honestly could have been earlier, I don’t even remember when I first met her! All I know is I used to babysit Sarah, her brother and their little sister Lydia (who was the flower girl in my wedding). Although I never really “babysat” Sarah, it was more like helping a friend watch her siblings! I got to watch Sarah grow up. I remember thinking how crazy it was to see her in the hallways in high school my senior year, feeling so old when she came to visit me at George Mason so she could tour the college, getting to see her around campus, and now I got to shoot her engagement pictures! I am SO excited that she’s getting married!

Getting to catch up with Sarah was so much fun during the shoot. She is so ready to be Jack’s wife, it’s sweet to see how in love they are! Sarah and Jack have been dating for just over 7 years. Isn’t that crazy?! I love that they have gotten to grow up together! And they are just as in love as they were day one! Jack is the quiet, still balance to Sarah’s bubble, outgoing personality. She would light up any time we got to talk about the wedding, but ESPECIALLY being married to Jack! They have been waiting for this moment forever!

We walked around Old Town Alexandria and meandered our way through the crowds. I’m amazed that we had so few people in our pictures because you could hardly walk there were so many people! Sarah and Jack were so patient with me every time I would tell them to hold a pose until people passed and were out of the shot. My favorite part of the shoot was when we walked down to the water. In the grassy area right in front of the water, we stumbled upon a big pile of rose petals! There were two little girls nearby who volunteered as rose petal throwers and we got some gorgeous pictures! I’m not sure who left them there, but I sure am glad they did! And don’t worry, we left the petals there in case someone was using them after.

Sarah and Jack, you two are the sweetest and I have loved getting to see your relationship grow over the years! I know you two are going to be amazing spouses. And Jack, thanks for walking ahead of us so Sarah could show me a sneak peak of her wedding dress. Just WAIT until you see her in it! Love you both, here are my favorites!
