This post is coming to you a little later than I would have liked, but I am glad to be able to post it at all! Toby and I were out of town on vacation a little over a week ago and I had a list of work I wanted to get done before we left (including editing and blogging all outstanding shoots). I got EVERYTHING done except for this blog post and on the day before we left as I was typing it up, my blog crashed. I lost the whole post and it wouldn’t let me log back in! I was so frustrated because we couldn’t get it fixed in time before I left, but thankfully while I was gone my blog issues were fixed and I am finally able to share this sweet engagement shoot with you!
Stephanie and Ryan deserve a round of applause. First of all, they had a whirlwind weekend back in Virginia! They flew in and basically had to come straight to our shoot from Colorado and then were busy at a wedding and traveling the rest of the weekend. Second, it was MISERABLY hot (one of the hottest, muggiest days of the year) so it wasn’t fun “let’s walk around outside” weather. It was more “I’m going to die without AC” weather. And despite taking my camera out of the bag 15 minutes before the shoot to adjust to the temperature, we had to wait another 10 minutes for it to defog at the start of the shoot because it was just THAT hot. Even with all of those challenges, these two were smiling, laughing, and so patient the entire time! You would never know just how hot they were from these pictures.
I had only gotten to meet Stephanie once via Skype so I was extremely happy we were able to squeeze in an engagement shoot while they were home! It’s always great to get to know people a little better before their wedding days. Stephanie and Ryan are the type of people you meet and they instantly make you feel so comfortable and at ease that you feel like you’ve been friends for years. I can’t believe I’ve only ever spent 90 minutes with them! In that short amount of time it was so easy to see how much fun they have together. Stephanie was laughing through the entire shoot and Ryan looked at her with so much love in his eyes. They really enjoy spending time together.
Stephanie informed me in the beginning of the shoot that they had no idea what they were doing when it comes to posing and that they would probably be awkward at it. I honestly have to laugh at that because they were such naturals from the very first moment! They caught on to every single pose I was doing right away and would even just do cute things on their own. I can’t wait for their wedding because they will be pros!
Ryan and Stephanie, thank you guys so much for squeezing me into your whirlwind weekend. I had so much fun getting to know you both and see the joy you bring out in one another! Thanks again for being so patient as we battled heat and lens fog. Here’s hoping for a snowy wedding!
