The drive up to Cheyenne’s house the morning of the wedding was absolutely beautiful. Rolling hills, back roads, and bright sunshine! I knew we were in for a great day. Normally, when I’m shooting at a new venue I look it up online to get a good feel for the location and what we will be working with. If it’s close enough, I will go a bit early on the wedding day to try and walk around before we start shooting. However, Cheyenne was getting ready at her house, not the venue and they were about 25 minutes away from each other. Also, I couldn’t find a single picture of it online (and I’m a professional stalker, I went through tagged locations on Instagram, searched hashtags, Facebook, googled it, tried google earth, literally nothing). So on the drive up to Cheyenne’s house, I was keeping my eyes open for any amazing locations in case we needed a back up.
A few miles from her house, the views were incredible and I was trying to look for a public place that had a yard we could use for a first look, when we drove past an elementary school. I knew it sounded crazy, but I was confident that if Cheyenne and Mason trusted me enough it would be so worth it! I have to admit I was a little nervous to suggest it. What bride wants to hear on the morning of her wedding “hey, by the way, why don’t we do your first look in the parking lot of an elementary school?” but thankfully I have the best couples ever because Cheyenne said absolutely yes without any hesitation! It means so much when my couples trust my crazy ideas and this one more than paid off.
The mountains made such a beautiful backdrop for their portraits and the light was amazing! I think it showed off her dress really well. When we left for the venue, I was just as excited when we got there because there was some gorgeous greenery and a little creek waterfall for a backdrop! It made for a really nice variety in their images.
Cheyenne and Mason were both so laid back and relaxed the whole day and it really took the pressure off everyone. It was such a calm, fun wedding day and I think it shows how much fun these two are going to have as husband and wife! No matter what stressful stuff is going on they can keep each other sane and relaxed and just enjoy life together. Cheyenne picked the most gorgeous bridesmaid dresses for this fall wedding. I don’t think I will ever get sick of these red wine color weddings, they look amazing! Also, can we just talk about Cheyenne’s stunning dress?! The long lace sleeves made it look so ethereal I was dying over it all day. It was so fun to shoot!
The whole day really reflected these two and everything they love. All of the rustic details, the amazing food (y’all should have tried that potato salad), s’mores, all of their closest friends and family, it really was a perfect day! Cheyenne and Mason, I hope you guys have had the best first few weeks of married life! It only gets better from here and I can’t wait to see what the first year brings you both. Here are my favorites from your day!
